Hey, I'm Avery! I'm 16 years old, and art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I can imagine my life without the need to create something. However, when I'm not creating art, I'm running with my best friend, yelling in the dugout while I play softball, reading a huge book (I've read over 250 books), or watching a Marvel movie. My art is something I rarely share. So being able to create this online gallery and display my art for you guys to enjoy is extremely exciting for me. When putting this gallery together, I felt enormously proud of my art and how it has grown. As you scroll on this page, you’ll be able to view 21 art pieces I've created over the years. If you click on an art piece, you can see further details such as name, materials, finish date, or price. Yep, a price. This means you can buy a print or sticker version of my artwork. “Contrast Portrait” $35 Graphite on sketching paper After taking a break from portraits, this is my first complete graphite portrait back.
“Simply, Me.” Graphite on Poster board This is one of my biggest pieces, and probably my favorite. For this Self portrait, I used a mirror and used my reflections as my art reference, and my only task was to capture myself, as I see myself.
“Grammie’s Porch Swing” $30 Charcoal and graphite on sketching paper The prompt I was given for this art piece was “the place you feel most at peace” and my grandmother's porch swing immediately came to mind. This swing looks out onto her beautiful backyard, huge garden, and horse. Every time I visit, I love to sit and watch her yard come to life, either with birds and squirrels in the morning or my cousins running around in the afternoon. In the art piece, my cousin Becca and I are sitting on the porch swing. I purposely shaded the background very dark to create the sense that the viewer can sit and view their own peaceful place when sitting on the swing.
“Purple Falling Plant” $30 Colored pencil on sketching paper This piece I had no art reference for. It just spilled out of my brain, and I had a lot of fun with it! My favorite part was shading in the leaves.
“Green Eyed Cat” $30 Colored pencils on sketching paper This is one of two animals that made it onto my gallery, and that's because I rarely draw animals. I didn’t like this piece when I first finished it, but now I can say I really enjoy this one.
“Still Life” $35 Graphite on sketching paper This was a very difficult art piece for me, but I absolutely love how it turned out. For this one, I used a live reference and lamp, and it was really fun being able to move my reference and adjust the lighting as I wanted.
“Landscape” $30 Graphite and charcoal on sketching paper I think I drew this one in under 30 minutes, and yet I really love this piece of art. I think it's the simplicity of it that I enjoy the most.
“Portrait Throughout the Years” Watercolor, Graphite, Colored pencils, and acrylic paint on poster board. This is my biggest piece of artwork, and it was definitely the hardest. Every time I look at this piece, I'm reminded of how difficult it was for me and the mistakes I made. However, despite the mistakes, I still love this piece. This was the last project of my sophomore year, and being able to draw myself as a baby, an elementary schooler, a middle schooler, and my current High School self was very reflective for me. Being able to imagine my younger self seeing the person I'm becoming, and seeing my current artwork, made me realize how proud I am of myself!
“Rainbow Lamp” $35 Colored pencil on sketching paper After understanding how to properly shade with colored pencils, this was the first colored pencil drawing I did. I blew through this. I completed it in a few hours, and I still love it as much as I did when I first completed it.
“Side Profile Portrait” $30 Sketching pencils on sketching paper This was my first “Big” portrait that I did during my art class. This piece gave me a very hard time, especially with the proportions. Also, at this point in my Art, I was very scared of getting dark with the shading. So this one doesn’t have very much contrast. However, despite that, every time I view this piece, I'm reminded how much I've grown, and how much I still enjoy viewing this piece.
“Watercolor Flower” $25 Watercolor on watercolor paper I dabble in watercolor every once in a while and wanted to show at least one piece from my time painting with it. I stumbled across this small pink flower I painted last summer and decided to include it. I actually took a picture of this flower on vacation, then painted it later.
“Portrait with Hat" $35 Graphite on sketching paper One thing I've always struggled with is making my art bigger; it's something that I've gotten better at, yet this one is small. However, I still love it. I think the shading is so good.
“Red Poinsettias” $35 Colored pencils on sketching paper This one I sketched out in 2024, but didn’t shade it in until 2025. This is one of my first colored pencil drawings.
“Simple Mouse” $25 Graphite and charcoal on Sketching Paper I drew this one, closed my sketch book, and didn’t revisit it until I was picking my pieces for this gallery. It's very simple, but I believe it belongs up here.
